DESCRIPTION
Also known as ELP2_RAT, Elp2, Statip1. Component of the RNA polymerase II elongator complex, a multiprotein complex associated with the RNA polymerase II (Pol II) holoenzyme, and which is involved in transcriptional elongation. The elongator complex catalyzes formation of carboxymethyluridine in the wobble base at position 34 in tRNAs. Component of the RNA polymerase II elongator complex (Elongator), which consists of ELP1, STIP1/ELP2, ELP3, ELP4, ELP5 and ELP6. Elongator associates with the C-terminal domain (CTD) of Pol II largest subunit (By similarity). Interacts with STAT3 and JAKs (By similarity).
