DESCRIPTION
Also known as DPO3E_RHOCB, dnaQ. DNA polymerase III is a complex, multichain enzyme responsible for most of the replicative synthesis in bacteria. The epsilon subunit contain the editing function and is a proofreading 3'-5' exonuclease (By similarity). DNA polymerase III contains a core (composed of alpha, epsilon and theta chains) that associates with a tau subunit. This core dimerizes to form the POLIII' complex. PolIII' associates with the gamma complex (composed of gamma, delta, delta', psi and chi chains) and with the beta chain to form the complete DNA polymerase III complex (By similarity).
